While bobbleheads themselves may not feature prominently in many movies, they have made occasional appearances as props or collectibles in various films. If you’re looking to have a bobblehead featured in your creative work, it’s not as simple as just ordering one from anyone and putting it in your film. Because bobbleheads are custom works of art, a formal agreement is recommended.
Major studios that produce films and TV series use a Work for Hire agreement to give official use of the bobblehead (or any other work of art) in your for-profit production. As Whoopass Enterprises is US-based, we’re happy to work with you on the paperwork you require to get your bobblehead in your film!
And if you’re including a bobblehead in your movie or TV show, you wouldn’t be alone. Here are a few times custom bobbleheads have appeared in movies and television shows (note that the bobbleheads below were not necessarily made by our company):
Movies that Showed Custom Bobbleheads
- Iron Man 2 (2010): In the Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Iron Man 2,” a Tony Stark bobblehead can be seen briefly in Tony Stark’s workshop, among other eccentric decorations.
- The Other Guys (2010): In this action-comedy film starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, a bobblehead of actor Samuel L. Jackson’s character, Detective P.K. Highsmith, appears on the desk of his character’s office.
- Tropic Thunder (2008): Another film featuring a Samuel L. Jackson bobblehead is “Tropic Thunder.” In this comedy directed by Ben Stiller, a bobblehead of Jackson’s character, Sergeant Osiris, is seen on the desk of the film’s fictional director. It seems Mr. Jackson is a popular bobblehead.
- Pineapple Express (2008): In this stoner action-comedy film, a bobblehead of the character Red, portrayed by actor Danny McBride, can be spotted in the office of his drug dealer, Saul Silver, played by James Franco.
- The Departed (2006): While not prominently featured, a few scenes in this crime thriller directed by Martin Scorsese briefly show bobbleheads as part of the set decoration in the offices of various characters.
- Bruce Almighty (2003): In this comedy starring Jim Carrey, a Bruce Nolan bobblehead appears in the background of the television station where the main character works as a news reporter.
These are just a few examples of movies where bobbleheads make cameo appearances. While they may not always play significant roles in the plot, their quirky presence adds to the overall atmosphere and character development within the films.
Bobbleheads have made occasional appearances in some TV shows. Most famously, The Office of course.
TV Series that Showed Custom Bobbleheads
- The Office (US): In the iconic workplace comedy series “The Office,” various characters have been depicted with bobbleheads of themselves. Notably, the character Dwight Schrute, portrayed by Rainn Wilson, has a bobblehead of himself on his desk, which becomes a recurring joke throughout the series. And if you’re looking to dress up like your co-worker (“identity theft is not a joke, Jim!”), you know where to go for that custom bobblehead!
- Breaking Bad: In the critically acclaimed drama series “Breaking Bad,” a Saul Goodman bobblehead can be seen in the office of the character Jimmy McGill, later known as Saul Goodman, portrayed by Bob Odenkirk.
- The Big Bang Theory: In several episodes of the popular sitcom “The Big Bang Theory,” characters are shown to be collectors of pop culture memorabilia, including bobbleheads. The characters Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, and Howard Wolowitz are seen with various bobbleheads throughout the series.
- Frasier: In the sitcom “Frasier,” the titular character, Frasier Crane, portrayed by Kelsey Grammer, is occasionally shown with bobbleheads in his apartment, adding to the eclectic decor of his home.
- Brooklyn Nine-Nine: In the comedy series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” the character Terry Jeffords, played by Terry Crews, has a bobblehead of himself on his desk in the precinct.
- The Simpsons: While not a live-action series, the animated sitcom “The Simpsons” has featured bobbleheads in various episodes. For example, in the episode “The Springfield Connection,” Homer Simpson is seen with a bobblehead of himself on his desk at work.
These are just a few examples of TV series where bobbleheads have made appearances. While they may not be a central focus of the shows, their presence adds to the visual humor and character development within the series.
